The hotel is bigger and has better facilities than the Elizabeth Hotel, and the breakfast is also better. The staff are very friendly and the view is great. However, please note that the swimming pool, sauna, and gym are still under construction and cannot be used yet. It has been under construction for several months, so it's unclear if they are purposely delaying it. Nonetheless, the location and facilities are excellent. The Quest Hotel is right next door, and you can enter the Ayala Mall through the back door just across the street, which is fantastic.

1. The location is near Ayala Mall, which is very convenient. 2. Although the hotel is not very new, it is very clean. The beds, floors, and tables are spotless. 3. This hotel does not allow smoking or strongly scented food, which may be inconvenient for guests. However, the staff are polite, professional, patient, and insistent when explaining the rules. The quality of the employees is good, and there is always a staff member at the entrance to help you open the door. 4. They offer luggage storage, which is very convenient for guests. 5. During our 3-day stay, since we did not need room cleaning, the hotel would confirm if we needed bottled water, clean towels, or room cleaning. It is a very thoughtful hotel. 6. We stayed in several hotels in Cebu during this trip, and this hotel is the most recommended one with high cost performance. 7. Booking through Agoda, there may be special offers if you book early, and there is also free cancellation support. I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Desk area, is the strongest area of the hotel from my observation. High marks go to the Supervisor and Manager of the desk On the other hand, the dinning room area is the weakest area of the Mandarin Hotel. Allow me to explain. Staff stands together behind the counter where the coffee, is and sink area, and talk to each other loudly, giggle, and flirt with each other. This is a common occurrence and has been like this for the years I came before the Covid and lock down of the Mandarin hotel. I would like to suggest that there be NO TALKING, GIGGLING, or FLIRTING, when staff is on the dinning room floor. You don't need to talk when your on the dinning room floor. Why talk to each other? Why? Only if a customer talks to you you should reply or talk. The next area of concern, is when the waiters who clean the table bring the dishes, cups, utensils, to the area where they can pile them up on the trays, later to be taken to the back area where they wash them. Why do they have to bang the plates and cups, and when they drop the silverware it makes a loud noise. There are customers eating breaks right next to them and all they hear is noise. A suggestion would be to share with the staff, that cleans the tables, the correct way to place a dish on top of another. Which would be in a quiet manner so that customers do not hear the noise of two dishes hitting each other. In the Philippines, and I'm sure other countries, the cars that are on the road get to a spot first, it is considered theirs. There is an endless amount of this procedure on the roads here. I smile, because I love it, although I'm certain there are a lot of accidents too! Yet, this procedure still applies in the dinning room area. You get a staff member who cuts directly Infront of a customer with a plate full of food. I see this often, and it happens to me. Why? What is it about a hotel, where staff, get to go first? Why? Now this leads me to the next point and this is the critical part. Yes, the Mandarin hotel, has a General Manager. (You never see the Manager, no does he/she come out and say hello to you. Yet, the dinning room Manager doesn't come in until 15 minutes before 10, (So I was told!) And he doesn't see what goes on on his floor when breakfast starts at 0600! Yes, you can argue there is a Supervisor, when I asked him, during breakfast, to join me, I'd like to share a few things with him, (I was sitting in the Bar area, alone, finishing my coffee, no one else was there.) He informed me he cannot sit down. (So, I understood he is not into public relations and said it was okay and finished my coffee, he left.) But, he, the Supervisor, is not correcting the staff. How do I know, because it was April 6, 2024 and the problems I have mentioned still exist. (Should have been correct when the hotel opened, years ago. So the problem is the General Manager, the Manager of the dining room area, Supervisors, and the results are noise everywhere, staff talking loudly, giggling, and flirting with each other, and they enjoy cutting in front of the customer. Why? Yes, their are a few, that do their job, I can see a good work ethic, but, in the end, Change needs to take place starting with the General Manager, and Dinning room Manager. Suggested for the Dinning room Manager, get their before 6. Also, one last suggestion: There should be NO TALKING BY THE STAFF WITH EACH OTHER WHILE ON THE DINING ROOM FLOOR. THERE DOESN'T NEED TO BE ANY AT ALL, unless a customer talks to you first.

My Mandarin Plaza Hotel experience was nice, special and worth of a kind! The staff were very accommodating, polite, and very considerate. I appreciate their best assistance at work. The only thing i could suggest is about the cleanliness of the rooms and the linens… if only the linens like blankets and bed cover was vacuumed and thoroughly cleaned before a new guest will occupy that room, the experience review would be exemplary at best! Location is great. A small distance to cover and you’re within the Ayala Mall. Along a busy street so you will hear traffic noise. Laundry around the area is good. Only gripe I have is that my wife had a nose bleed which is out of her control and only a hand towel was impacted by the nose bleed and we got charged for the two towels due to the stain. They charged the fee but I would have liked if they gave us the towels unless it was a just a cleaning fee. Overall, a pleasant stay.
