Malate hotels & places to stay

I have stayed in many good hotels in Malate/Mabini, but this was my first stay at the Diamond, based on a very good rate via Agoda. I enjoyed the stay very much, and will certainly look to stay again in the future. Just one small issue - the food was I felt very average for a hotel of this stature, and suffered as many hotels do in Manila form having chefs who mix in the salt all too liberally into sups and main courses.

After staying in a very rough provincial hotel (in Cagayan de Oro) for a few days, I took a day to recover at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Malate Manila. Most travellors don't like Malate (it can be very seedy, particularly near the hotel) but I like it, on the magnificient Manila Bay as it is and near the charming Remedios Circle (with bars and restaurants). I took an executive room, as the superior room I stayed in last time was not that great. The Executive room is not that large but quite luxurious with a lovely bathroom. The staff is very professional, breakfast nice, and the pool area lovely. If traffic weren't so bad its also a not that far from the airpot - my tip here is to go early morning or lunch time/early afternoon if possible to avoid the worst of Manila traffic jams.

First time I stayed at this Condotel and it was well worth it. The reception is split between JMM Grand Suite, another condotel and residences that live there. Security here is very good considering everyone requires an access card to get through the turn style before getting on the elevator. Check in took about 20-minutes since there is only one computer available at the reception and I just came at the wrong time when everyone was trying to check out. Be aware their credit card machine had lots of issues with people trying to use it to pay for their room, bring CASH. The room and facilities are very nice. Pool and gym located on the same floor. However, the pool closes at 7pm. I was upgraded to a room that had a kitchenette and a high floor that was a pleasant surprise. Four elevators service the high rise so no need to wait long amounts of time for it. Best thing about this place is the location, just a two minute walk to Robinsons Mall in Ermite / Malate.

affordable hotel near robinson's mall malate. Hotel staff are accommodating. The first room we got had a problem with its electronic door. We were transferred to another room which had a non functioning shower bulb. But I would still come back to this hotel next year. The UBE airport bus is just across the road near the Robinson's mall so transport from and to the airport is not a problem.

My Filipina girlfriend and I decided to book 6days in the Regency Grand Suite and hoped it would be perfect for my last weeks stay in the Philippines. We were NOT dissappointed! We were greeted by the friendlest receptionist called Joseph who did everything for us from check us in to fixing the WIFI connection :) from there the stay in the hotel just got better. The location is perfect if you want to be central to Malate and it's right next to the mall. We stayed on the 32nd floor so obviously it was very quiet if you wanted to get away from the nightlife. The gym and the pool (very cold water ha) were great perfect to sit beside and relax. There are plenty of lovely Asian restaurants next to the hotel and the hotel is only short drive (100php) from Markati and the Fort. The room (a suite) was perfect it had plenty of power points (universal for 3pin plugs) a kitchen area with a microwave, kettle and fridge perfect for making snacks. The shower room was cozy and modern (don't forget to switch on the water heater) and after switching the water heater on the hot rain shower was wonderful. The view was magnificent from the 32nd floor balcony viewing out onto Manila bay and the cities beyond. The bed is huge but the space around the bed is limited but never the less its very cozy and perfect for me and my filipina girlfriend. The room also had a very modern flat screen TV with satelite channels such as HBO and PBO and other filipino channels. In short our stay in the Regency Grand Suites was wonderful and we shall most certainly be booking to stay here again on my next holiday. This was my first time to book a hotel room in the heart of Malate. I looked for one that is affordable (since it's just a 1-night stay and all I really needed was a dress-up room for a wedding that I attended the following day) but had good reviews. Plus, one of my most basic requirements/ expectations is a CLEAN ROOM - with clean beddings and clean bathroom. And, Amelie Hotel Manila definitely delivered these. The only down-sides: The coarse (not fluffy) towels and the loud music from a nearby hotel that seeped through the windows. But, given that I stayed solo and didn't want "eerie" silence throughout the night, I consider it as a minor concern. =)

pros: the hotel was fairly easy to find, especially since it's just along the storied adriatico st. in malate, which also wasn't as bad as i'd expected. ermita is a constantly evolving place, no wonder one finds all sorts of travelers, regulars and locals on adriatico st. there are historic sites nearby and the hotel isn't that far from manila's more touristy attractions. since i'm into street food/hole-in-the-wall establishments, there are a few delightful spots that might surprise you if you looked hard enough. the courteous woman at the front desk accommodated my early check-in, but i had to wait a reasonable 30 minutes because the room had to be cleaned. so, i headed straight to the shawarma snack center, which serves middle eastern food. great food. when i returned, the room was ready and for the price i paid, i was happy with it. the hallway ceiling was being renovated, but it didn't bother anyone. as for the malate area, i didn't feel threatened walking along the hotel area at 3 a.m., but that's because i'm a local and nobody bothered haranguing me. still, if one keeps a low profile and just not do anything stupid, the malate area would be an interesting place to stay in for 2 to 3 days. anyway, if things get ugly, there's a police station nearby. too bad i only had an overnight stay, so i wasn't able to sample several stalls, like the one that sold ramen in a watering hole for backpackers. cons: while walking the stretch of adriatico st. looking for the hotel that morning, i couldn't help but feel disgusted with the stink of urine, and on a couple of instances, the sight of feces on the sidewalk. there were vagrants in every corner. this is a serious problem that the district and city officials must address.

okay so we all know ermita/malate is a sleazy and dodgy area with an army of child-beggars and homeless people camping on the streets at night, but as there is all the infrastructure a traveler needs, most people still decide to stay here. hotel located a stone-throw away from robinson's ermita mall, the centrepoint of the area. rooms have been recently renovated and are in good condition. street noise is bearable (if u need complete silence, u better stay away from ermita/malate). free wifi comes in handy, speed acceptable. staff very friendly, and the manager was around and asking guests (me included) if everything was okay (which i could confirm - to the manager's delight - was the case). my room did not include bf, so can not comment on the quality of food there. i have been staying at many different places in malate/ermita over the years, and this one must have been the best value for money i had. definitely recommended and i wonder why it is not always fully booked.

Motel 168 (Hotel 168 ) is located inside Birch Tower, a condotel in Malate, Manila. Robinsons Mall is so near that you can see it from your balcony. The pool is not heated though, gym is a bit small but enough, located on the 9th floor. Clean room with key card, functioning kitchenette, firm bed, working tv, hot water in the bathroom, balcony. My room was on the 9th floor and the view sucked. No free breakfast, wifi, phone. Pleasant reception staff. No free breakfast, safety box, wifi or phone though. Still good value for money because of the location.

Dear fellow Readers This is my first time staying at this lovely, clean, safe, friendly hotel. For the price and position in Malate, Manila its worth trying and see for yourself. As this hotel was a great experience I will be back at this hotel with pleasure, the hotel is close to Robinsons Mall Malate, Ninoy International Airport, and all restaurants and cafes in the area. one of the best deals ever. i was so glad i found this place. the previous night i was in a horrible location outside robinson galleria, malate. it was so refreshing to move to a quiet location and into a very charming hotel. the room was a real suite with an entry/living room leading to a separate bedroom and bathroom. the staff was very accommodating and they have a free shuttle to the mall of asia.

My second time here and this is an older but quaint hotel in the heart of Malate and is very well run by the competent staff and management. Security is high priority and guests can feel safe if you are concerned. The hotel is quite comfortable but ageing, so don't expect the Hyatt here. It is a good price/value for money. A few minutes stroll to the modern Robinsons Mall for any shopping you need and 5 mins to Manila Bay and the bay walk. Plenty of nightlife with bars and dancing clubs, this area is not rough and I have no problems nor fear of roaming around at night (I'm 57). Touts and beggars can be a problem but most just leave you alone after a few days, some just like a chat and are very friendly and will help you find your way around.

The Executive Plaza Hotel in Malate, Manila, the Philippines is located in the center of the Malate night life and is an excellent value for the money. The rooms are very spacious, in good repair, exceptionally clean and well appointed with a nice desk and two easy chairs, and the rooms are quiet even though the hotel is on a busy street. The beds are comfortable and have four large pillows. There is lots and lots of counter space to put stuff and a large closet with ample deluxe hangers and large flat screen TV. The room lighting is well done and easy to operate. Some other really nice features are very fast elevators, unbelievably good water pressure with almost instant hot water, in bathroom mounted hair dryer, a 24 hour 7/11 mini store next to the hotel and there is a seeming endless supply of instantly available taxis at the hotel front door. The A/C is quiet and efficient, and you can keep get an extra room key and keep the A/C on when you are out of the room. The hotel restaurant serves a nice selection of well prepared food, and all the hotel staff are friendly and helpful. The internet is free and worked about 90% of the time, but it is slow. The check-in procedure is very slow. My room was prepaid, but it still took almost a half an hour to check in. There is a very, very small refrigerator but it does not cool, at all. I pointed this out to the staff, but they didn’t seem to care and actually told me I was wrong though the contents were at room temperature. Some other negatives are the bathroom has no vent fan and the hotel room service closes at 10:00 PM. The power outlets are not well placed, so your devices have to sit on a chair next to an outlet to be charged. The positives at the Executive Plaza Hotel far outweigh the few negatives, and this hotel is definitely a good value. I will seek this hotel on future visits to Malate. It is one of the few, if not only, budget hotels in the area that offer king size beds.

its located along the service road of Roxas Blvd., near the mall of asia, robinson mall malate, sofitel, Phil gen hospital,US embassy, luneta park, ocean park, malate church, surrounded by many famous restaurants including a famous Chinese restaurant on their ground floor. The building is not new, you see wood tiles as their floor tiles, its room facilities are good including the Wifi signal. overall i would be happy to stay here with family or group.

This is a hotel comprised of serviced apartments run by people on the 30th floor. They are not the only 'hotel' operating in this 50 story relatively new building but they are cheaper than the competition. The staff on the 30th floor clean the apartment daily and were very quick to come and clean up a broken glass I dropped. Internet and Cable TV are good. there is a full size fridge and cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. The bathroom is good with plenty of hot water. Bed is comfortable and I would be very happy to stay there again. As a bonus the hotel is located just across the road (50m) south from Robinson's Place Malate which is a very big modern shopping center so plenty of restaurants and shopping. Next door is a small laundry which is cheap and reliable. Taxis are always available in front as they pass by on their way to Robinsons. The elevated train is 0.75 km east and Roxas Boulavard which runs along the coast is just 2 blocks west, a short walk. Contrary to some people who said the area was scary I had no personal security issues and felt quite safe as the 'red light' entertainment area is a km or more further South and i never ventered in that direction.

The rate was fine. Selection for buffet breakfast was just okay (you'll get 2 viand, a vegetable side, choices between plain and garlic rice plus coffee, tea or powdered juice drink) Over-all, given a chance, I would still choose this hotel for a night stay. They have complete bathroom accessories and toiletries. Hot or cold shower, room slippers, free mini bar and complimentary water. But, the only downside is that they do not have parking area. What they have is parking space in front of the hotel across the one-way street of MH Del pilar in malate. Hotel is located near Armada Hotel and aristocrat. You'll find a convenience store nearby too.

Stayed a week at Victoria Court Malate. Very satisfied with the quality of the total service. Hotel for adults. The privacy and security of the hotel guests is essential. Entrance is via an underground private garage. Rooms are nicely decorated to intimate love nests and a sluice so that you can order drinks or food without disturbing. The prices (food, drinks, room) fall within a feasible class, especially given the quality you get. Hotel is located in Malate with clubs, karaoke and popular Chinese Ramen Restaurant. Nothing is too much for the staff. They will meet all your wishes and remain discreet. Price is also openly discussed: what do you pay for what? Above all, I would like to thank Victoria Court, the manager and all the sympathetic guys who work there. I had to do on a night with a girlfriend who went out of the ribbon. It became a whole riot. It was four o'clock at night but the boys arrived correctly and discreetly between and the boss came to solve the case personally.

If the highest score is 10 then I would give them a score of 11. Heroes Hotel have exceeded my expectations in a hotel. If you want the service of a 5-star hotel that would still fit your budget then just book your stay here. All of their staff are courteous and ready to help you with anything, their facilities are awesome (specially their bathroom!! I love their shower area!!), they have an honesty cafe w/c is very cool, you are allowed to treat it as if it is your own dining area, their bar serves great cocktails, they have free breakfast and cocktails, their reception area is so cool with all those replicas and.... so much more. All in all, we are very satisfied with our stay. I will surely return and I would love to try their tour packages. PS: they are also involved in outreach programs. Truly, service with a heart...

We saw this place while walking around Malate last year. So, after reading up on Sohotel we decided to book here for 10 days, For the price, the room is worth the money. If you need a good dependable Internet connection, DO NOT STAY HERE. Even looking at my Yahoo e-mail was a problem. No downloading of anything, including anti-virus updates. I complained and I was told it would be taken care of, BUT....no improvement ever occurred. If you need dependable wifi, try the Manila Crown Palace on Adriatico St or the Sogo Malate on Mabini St. We've stayed at both. Breakfast here is included from certain set choices. All choices are OK. Masarap !! Breakfast is available on a 24 hour basis, so no restriction on time of day when you order. You phone your order in to the front desk and the food is brought to your room about 30 minutes later. There is no lobby, there is no dining area. There is no electric kettle, so bring your own. However, there is a mini-bar fridge and there is room in it for you to put some cans of your own. The bathroom and shower area is HUGE. Hot water was never a problem. Because this place is basically a sex hotel, no children are allowed. No exceptions to the no children rule. Call the front desk when you want fresh towels or to have the room cleaned. An enclosed parking space is included with every Deluxe Queen room. Each day you stay is a 24-hour stay, beginning the moment you check in. So check-out is anytime up to 24 hours later. Very convenient. No 12 noon check-out/2 PM check-in routine here. The in-room safe is an added benefit. Ours worked OK. Manila Bay & the Bay Walk are a short 2 block walk from the hotel. The front desk and security is open 24 hours a day.

This is my regular hotel when I stay in Manila. The rooms are large, the breakfast is good and the staff are friendly and security conscious. The hotel is located in a quiet street, but only 5 minutes walk to Robinsons Place, the major shopping mall in the area. It is 10 minutes walk to Manila Bay, and 20 minutes walk to Rizal Park and Manila Ocean Park. There are also excellent transport connections (LRT, Jeepney, UV Express) if you wish to use public transportation. The hotel has a lovely pool, which is in shadow from mid afternoon so you won't get sunburnt. You can buy a limited selection of drinks from the pool attendant. Breakfast is great, a range of western and Filipino delights from an a la carte menu. I highly recommend the longanisa!
