“Lovely getaway hotel with kind and caring staff”
We had a fantastic stay here thanks to the facilities and wonderful staff. The hotel is surely on a cliff, and overlooking a small beach (Nui Beach) - such a hidden gem that there were rarely any visitors and it was like having a private beach steps away from our room. (Just note that the waves are bigger/less calm tides here so be careful not to go too far into the water.) Beach is accessed via a set of ramshackle stairs which felt stable and had handrails but is built over rocks so you do need to be careful. A shower is set up outside on the steps to the beach so you can rinse sand off before going inside. There are beautiful, unobstructed views of the sea throughout the hotel including at the large bar/restaurant outside the rooms. The whole place is west-facing so everyone gets a nice sunset view. The location is a bit far from popular areas like Khlong Khong, Lanta Old Town, and the Walking Street which are all further north, but not quite as secluded as the southern tip and there are still many restaurants and other resorts a short scooter ride away or within walking distance. It took us about 15-30 minutes by scooter to get to the popular attractions up north by scooter. The owner seemingly thought of everything travellers would need on a small island like Koh Lanta that's so far from certain modern luxuries most are used to - you can rent scooters and cars from the front desk without a deposit or passport to be taken (at discounted rates for hotel guests!) They even filled up our gas tank as the nearest gas was a little more than 1km away. Unlike cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, 7-11's are more sparse on Lanta and maybe that's why our room was stocked with water and drinks every day (2 big water bottles and 2-4 small ones! + gingerales, all comped). So even if you don't get drinks from the restaurant, rest assured you'll stay hydrated. The food at the restaurant was great too, actually better than a beach-side place nearby that we ventured out to try one night. We were welcomed with iced teas upon arrival and the staff brought our luggage to the room - since the stairs are a bit steep, this was highly appreciated. The owner and staff were very kind and helped answer all our inquiries, and even called and negotiated a cab for us when we were leaving. Our room was clean and housekeeping came everyday with lots of fresh towels (we loved the fun shapes they'd make each time, swans, hearts, seashells). Our room had a balcony overlooking the beach and sea which meant private sunset views. The bathroom is very clean as well with hot water and good plumbing; we did have one night where the water stopped and the staff had already left for the night, but one quick call and it was fixed right away. There were some tiny ants and flies/mosquitos that got into the room but certain issues like this and the water is expected on an island and the hotel did a fantastic job overall of making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Housekeeping somehow got rid of all the ants/flies each day. My one suggestion is to get a screen for the balcony doors since the aging wood left small cracks for bugs to get through. But overall we didn't see any gross pests like roaches, the room had working AC for the heat and humidity, blackout curtains for the morning light, and we felt like it was a great "island getaway" experience with little amiss or lacking for our needs. Kudos again to all the kind and caring staff who took care of us during our stay.
