“Not what it once was”
Dakak Park and Beach Resort undeniably offers an incredible setting with breathtaking views, beautifully maintained gardens, and a fantastic beachfront. The staff are consistently friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Our room on July 12th was excellent – very clean, spacious, and comfortable, though we did specifically book for two beds and received a king. However, having stayed here a few years ago, and with family who are regular VIP guests (normally visiting several times a year), we observed some significant and concerning changes. The breakfast, which was a true banquet during our previous visit, is now quite basic, mostly cold, and offers limited choices – a real downgrade. Furthermore, we, and especially our family, noticed that many areas of the resort, particularly the beachfront rooms, are showing their age with visible signs of disrepair like rotting wood and even leaking roofs. This lack of maintenance extends to other parts of the property as well. The cost of food and drinks was also a major point of concern. Lunch portions were surprisingly small, more like what you'd find at a local carinderia, but at a premium price. Drinks were easily 3 to 4 times more expensive than local norms, which feels excessive for the value offered. The once vibrant evening atmosphere has also faded; by 7 PM, most areas seemed quiet and empty, lacking the lively buzz we remembered. Our family, as loyal VIP return guests, expressed extreme disappointment with their recent booking, check-in, and overall treatment during their stay, feeling they absolutely did not get what they paid for. They are now seriously considering never returning, which is a significant loss for a resort relying on repeat clientele. While Dakak's natural beauty and friendly staff remain, at its premium price point, the current state of facilities, the quality and value of food and beverage, and the overall guest experience (especially for VIPs) simply don't align with a 5-star ideal. It feels like a place that was once truly amazing but is now showing signs of being uncared for and sadly fading.
