“Perfect location - just a few steps from Kyoto Station!”
Coming from the US, we are always accustomed to rooms that have plenty of room. This was our first visit to Japan and of course staying in a room that is much smaller than one is accustomed to, is indeed, a big eye opener! However, this APA hotel made our stay much more pleasant. Facilities were tidy and quite clean. Towels and every TV screen has all the info one could have questions on. Info such as wifi, check in/out times, cleaning days, movies, tours, etc are all at ones finger tips. The only complaint I have is that the temperature is centrally controlled. What this means is that for anyone with a health condition that requires a cooler temperature than what the hotel provides may be quite uncomfortable during the entire stay. That is what I experienced unfortunately but that is because of a sleeping condition that means I need temperature to be cooler and no heater being on unless it is snowing (it is not yet snowing on this early November 2025). Other than that, the hotel itself has a 7-11 across the street, there is a drug store just around the corner. Kyoto train station is within walking distance - perfect for catching the buses, subways and trains. Shopping hub is near by and starting points for tour buses is also within walking distance. Staff was kind but if you booked your stay with another booking line, you may be left to your own to complete your check in via their computer terminal. That was our case having booked through Agoda. Not sure if it was due to language barrier or just that they were shy to try and speak English but we did our own check in and also our own check out....so interaction with staff was very minimal. Rooms were cleaned every third day but towels and Yakatas were always replenished daily.
